Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande win hearts again on iHeartRadio

 

Dua Lipa and American vocalist Ariana Grande are winning the hearts of music fans as the British singer and model's 'Levitating' has got the honour of the most played song and American singer has become the most-played artist on iHeartRadio's stations in 2021.

iHeartRadio, which is the world’s largest radio network, released the list of most heard songs on Monday. The radio took into consideration the total audience spins (TAS) and streams across its stations nationwide and on the iHeartRadio app.

Dua Lipa's “Levitating” has received an audience of nearly 1.2 billion in the US alone, according to iHeartRadio. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande has grabbed the attention of one of more than 2.6 billion music lovers.

The iHeartRadio issued the lists of the top 10 most played songs and artists.

The Total Audience Spins calculation is based on certified Mediabase airplay and is multiplied by the number of persons listening to the radio at the time of those plays, delivering total audience impressions which is the broadcast equivalent of the number of streams from a streaming music service, according to iHeartRadio.

 Ever since the celebrity couple - Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello - split, their fans have been figuring out what has caused them to take this step.

Some US media outlets revealed that it was Shawn Mendes who decided to step out of the relationship. One of the big issues was the busy life that their respective professions offered them, which made them take up the big step. They stayed in each other's company for as long as the quarantine time of the Covid-19 pandemic afforded them.

“They had this intense relationship last year and spent months together during the lockdown in Miami. They both seemed very happy and looked like they enjoyed having a break from working," People magazine quoted a source last week.

“It’s more back to normal life. They have careers that are taking them in different directions. They went from spending every day together to now not really spending any time together.”

In an interview he gave before the breakup, Shawn Mendes reminisced the good time that he spent with Camila Cabello. “I spent most of the pandemic in Miami with Camila and her family, it was beautiful, truly so special. I often go back to look at photos and the simplicity of that time, we were lucky. It was nice," he had said.

“I hadn’t joyfully ridden my bike around a neighborhood since I was 12 before that. We were making dinner, just doing normal things. The Latin culture is also just so beautiful, so being able to immerse myself in that culture is always really healing.”

Even before the couple announced the breakup, he had already started looking back on lovely time in the company of his girlfriend.

As per a claim by royal historian Dr Ed Owens, the couple might mend their relationship when the Queen eventually passes away.

"Harry will definitely be at his grandmother’s funeral when she does finally die," he said.

"And if the relationship between Meghan and the British Royal Family has improved by then, I see no reason why she wouldn’t attend either.

"However, time will tell."

Fashion designer Giorgio Armani has been awarded the Knight Grand Cross, Italy’s highest civilian honour, reported Vogue.

Armani received the honour from Italy’s president Sergio Mattarella on Friday at a private ceremony at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.

“This honour holds a particular meaning for me. It came from our president, who is not only the head of state, but also a man whose values, open-mindedness and kindness are unquestionably high,” said Armani after the ceremony.

“I am proud to represent Italy and I am honoured to receive this prestigious title, which the president is giving me on behalf of the whole country,” he added.

The Italian Knight Grand Cross is part of the country’s Order of Merit and has earlier been awarded to Valentino Garavani in 1986, and Miuccia Prada in 2015.

Armani himself has earlier received France’s highest order of merit in 2008.

The Miss Universe beauty pageant on December 12 despite host the host, Israel, imposing travel restrictions to try to stave off the Omicron coronavirus variant, Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov said on Sunday.

On Saturday Israel announced it would ban foreigners from entering, lengthen quarantines for citizens and residents returning from abroad and reinstate controversial cellphone surveillance designed to track infections.

However, Razvozov on Sunday said that Miss Universe participants would be granted waivers while possibly undergoing PCR testing every 48 hours and other precautionary measures.

"This is an event that will be broadcast in 174 countries, a very important event, an event that Eilat, too, is very much in need of," he told reporters.

Briefing a parliamentary committee, senior health ministry official Sharon Alroy-Preis said Israel was putting together a safety plan for Miss Universe and could limit admission to the pageant from countries deemed to be high-risk.

Jeffrey Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell goes on trial

 

Opening statements Monday are set to launch the much-anticipated sex crimes trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite charged with recruiting and grooming underage girls for the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The 59-year-old daughter of the late newspaper baron Robert Maxwell faces an effective life sentence if convicted in New York of sex trafficking minors for Epstein, her former lover who killed himself in prison over two years ago.

Following the death of Epstein -- a multimillion-dollar money manager who befriended countless celebrities, including Britain´s Prince Andrew -- prosecutors vowed to pursue co-conspirators, resulting in Maxwell´s arrest in July 2020.

She has since been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where she has complained of unsanitary and inhumane conditions.

Maxwell´s alleged crimes occurred between 1994 and 2004, and relate to four unnamed women, including two who say they were just 14 and 15 years old when they were sexually abused.

Prosecutors say Maxwell befriended girls with shopping and movie theater trips, later coaxing them into giving Epstein nude massages at his various residences, during which he would engage in sex acts before giving them money.

US government attorneys say she sometimes participated in the alleged abuse, at her London home and at Epstein´s properties in Manhattan, Palm Beach and New Mexico.

Epstein died aged 66 in a Manhattan jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges, in what New York´s official coroner ruled a suicide...AFP

The creators of Bridgerton have just wrapped up their shoot for season 2 and turned to social media to tease its upcoming release.

For those unversed, this upcoming season will focus on the life of Lord Anthony Bridgerton who is trying to find love with Simone Ashley's Kate Sharma.

The news was announced over on Twitter by its creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen.

He even posted a commemorative picture to go along with the announcement and included actress Ashley, Bailey and Dusen himself.

Renowned actor Dwayne Johnson recently highlighted the impact his co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot helped him in dealing with the pain associated with his dad’s death.

The Rock took his walk down memory lane while speaking to People magazine. 

There he spoke at length about his father, professional wrestler Rocky Johnson and explained, “On the first day of filming, my dad died.”

While the star immediately rushed home for the funeral to pay his respects, it was what happened after he started working again that truly warmed his heart.

The Rock explained that on the first day of his return, he became ‘overwhelmed’ by the support he received from his co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot.

“The moment I walked in the door, Ryan gave me a big hug and said, ‘I got you, man’,” he recalled.

For those unversed, the stars have been close for over 20 years now and first met back in 2002, at MTV’s Spring Break in Cancun during the promotional events for their first feature film Van Wilder and Scorpion King.

"The love, bond and brotherhood is there," The Rock also added during his interview with the outlet.

Even Gal Gadot played a large role in helping keep his spirits up, as The Rock explained, "Gal is always taking care of the people around her and has the most positive presence."

"Gal would get the giggles, then I would get the giggles, and then we would all go," he explained. "I've never laughed as hard as I did on this film."

Mandy Teefey, the mother of singer Selena Gomez, has revealed that she was body shamed for gaining weight.

Taking to Instagram, she said she  gained 60 lbs. during a recent hospitalization with life-threatening double pneumonia"

She said it happened a month before she had appeared with her daughter on the cover of Entrepreneur magazine.

"I wasn't ever going to discuss this, but I knew when the Entrepreneur cover came out comments on my weight were going to be DM'd to me," Teefey started in the caption.

"I just posted a polite offer instead of the name calling," Teefey wrote. "But, I was out of the hospital for maybe 3 1/2 weeks from double pneumonia. I was told I had days to live. I had miracle Drs. and love from my family and friends to keep me going. I fought. The Drs. fought and I was one of the few who made it out."

Turkish actor Engin Altan Duzyatan on Saturday announced a new project which is a collaboration with a gaming company.

Taking to Instagram, the "Dirilis: Ertugrul" star shared a poster of his project with a caption that read, "Collaboration coming soon Keep on watching."

Engin rose to global fame for his role in "Dirilis:Ertugrul" which tells the story of the father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire.

He is currently appearing in another hit TV series titled "Barbaroslar".
